About Me:
Education- My first two years of college were spent at Tacoma Community College. There I received my Associates degree as a student athlete. Along with taking classes, I was also on the basketball team where I gained a lot of my leadership and teamwork skills. I am currently a senior at Central Washington University majoring in Apparel Textiles and Merchandising, while also minoring in business. I will be graduating in June of 2017 with a broad range of knowledge suitable for any company in the fashion industry.
Personal Strengths- The strengths I have acquired from various experiences are; creativity, passion, teamwork, being punctual, and time management. Taking classes for Apparel Textiles and Merchandising really exercises your creativity. With all these classes I believe I have found my own unique way of creativity and am also on the hunt to build and expand my creative ways. Passion is from with in, it's not something that you learn. I put my all into everything I do. Since I've wanted to be in the fashion industry for so long, my passion to do well and succeed is powerful. When given an opportunity I would not let anyone down due to how bad I want this for myself. Teamwork is a skill I gained through group activities, working as a bartender, and sports. All of these you need to depend on those your working with to get the job done successfully. Being on time is a necessity. Being punctual I take very seriously and I consider it a strength of mine. Finally time management is something I think I do very well. In college I played a sport, was a full time student, and worked 30 hours a week. When taking this heavy workload I learned to prioritize and utilize every second of my time.
Values- My values consist of ethical sustainable work environments. I believe in eco-friendly clothing and creating opportunities cor people to help out around the community. Fashion is the second leading industry in waste and my goal is to change that. I know one person can’t do it all, but it only takes one person to start the movement and then others may follow. I value hard work and dedication to whatever your job task is. Quality over quantity is a strong belief of mine because if the product isn’t good it doesn’t matter if you have a million of it, nobody is going to want it. I value loyalty and customer service. Customer service is a dying art due to technological advances and I believe that working and conversating one on one is a better more personal way of working.
Technical Knowledge- I was able to take a class that taught me the ins and outs of word, power point, excel, and access. With this knowledge, I am now able to create professional files using each of these programs. Another class I took was one that was based on excel alone. I learned the ins and outs and perfected my skills in this program which is essential in the fashion world. Finally, a Digital Presentation Techniques taught Photoshop, InDesign, Publisher, and Illustrator. I am now have the skills to create high quality visuals
