The Apparel Textiles and Merchandising program has helped me a lot. Having such a wide variety of classes taught me that there is so much more to the fashion industry then most people think. I learned that job opportunities are abundant and there are tons of different directions you can go according to your skill set. I have a better understanding on where fashion comes from and the history behind every garment produced. I am able to take a garment and break down the entire construction of it. The major has given lots of insight on sustainability, what we don't know, and what needs to be fixed. Computer generated skills were taught, learning the ins and outs of excel and being to make creative vision boards which are great skill to have when going out in the workforce. After going through the program i feel like i have the knowledge, creativity, and skills to take on any job in the fashion industry.
